Learn Arabic letter shapes, numerals and connected words through nineteen short lessons.
Start with six groups covering the 29 supplied alphabet entries, including hamza. Each letter includes its Arabic name, a transliterated name and a supplied reading. Compare similar forms carefully and pay attention to the placement of dots.
Continue with the supplied numeral forms from ١ to ١٠, followed by twelve reading lessons. Early examples include بَاب (door), بَيْت (house) and أَخ (brother). Later lessons include greetings, pronouns, possessions, number words and longer phrases.
Arabic is displayed right to left. Trace a whole connected word rather than separating it into individual letters. Latin readings and English meanings help you connect the written forms with the supplied vocabulary. Spellings and readings are retained as supplied, including a mixture of formal and colloquial forms; these materials have not yet had an independent language review.
How to practice
Preview any lesson before adding it. Start with the alphabet, look at each form and reading, then trace and check recognition. Use an Arabic keyboard or the available character palette for typing. Multiword tracing is off by default and can be enabled in practice settings.
